( - It used to be that a losing season , no playoffs and a coaching change meant the Browns were still going nowhere and everybody was better off just forgetting about the last 16 games. The Browns have now claimed that sad trifecta eight times since 1999. But this time feels different.Browns kick off interviews with Gregg Williams ( - The Browns conducted the first formal interview of their coaching search Tuesday by meeting with Gregg Williams. Of course, a more authentic audition of Williams had already played out because he went 5-3 as Browns interim coach after replacing Hue Jackson on Oct. 29. It was a dramatic turnaround for a team that had gone 3-36-1 in 2陆 seasons under Jackson’s guidance.Mike McCarthy sets up interview with Browns ( - The Cleveland Browns will bring former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy in for an interview Thursday according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. The New York Jets will also interview McCarthy but it is unknown when that will occur.NFL:No team is just one player away (ESPN) - Every NFL season is a new opportunity to learn. In some cases, the things you pick up from a campaign are brand new (or close), like seeing Chip Kelly work in that debut Monday Night Football game against Washington in 2013. Others are just reminders of things I either took for granted or wasn’t emphasizing as much as I should have when I think about the state of the game in 2018. I’m going to run through some of the big stories from the 2018 season and see what I learned or relearned over the course of the new campaign. Elway: My history in Denver does not spare me from criticism ( - Sitting across from John Elway, I played devil’s advocate. A head coaching candidate looking in at the Denver Broncos is going to stare at Patrick Mahomes II playing for the AFC West-rival Kansas City Chiefs and think he’s going to playing for the wild card every year for the next 10 or so years.Vance Joseph to interview with Bengals (PFT) - Vance Joseph could be having the time of his life all over again. The former Broncos coach, fired after presiding over the first back-to-back losing seasons in Denver since 1971-72, will interview with the Bengals this week, per multiple reports.Lions part ways with Jim Bob Cooter ( - The Jim Bob Cooter era is over in Motown after five seasons. Cooter and the Detroit Lions mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced Tuesday. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport initially reported the move. The Jacksonville Jaguars are without running back Leonard Fournette for the fourth time in two seasons. They went 3-0 without him in 2017.Fournette is inactive a week after straining his right hamstring in the opener against the New York Giants. Fournette tested his hamstring before Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, but the Jaguars opted to be cautious with him in Week 2.The Detroit Lions will be without star pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah against the San Francisco 49ers. Ansah is inactive with a shoulder injury.Inactives for Sunday’s games:INDIANAPOLIS-WASHINGTONColts: T Anthony Castonzo, OL Denzelle Good, DL Denico Autry, CB Chris Milton, RB Christine Michael, DE Tarell Basham, CB Lenzy Pipkins.Redskins: WR Maurice Harris, S Troy Apke, RB Samaje Perine, OL Geron Christian, OL Casey Dunn, DL Caleb Brantley, CB Adonis Alexander.CAROLINA-ATLANTAPanthers: WR Curtis Samuel, WR Damiere Byrd, LB Andre Smith, G Trai Turner, TE Greg Olsen, DE Bryan Cox Jr., DE Efe Obada.Falcons: CB Isaiah Oliver, RB Devonta Freeman, DE Steven Means, G Ben Garland, T Matt Gono, WR Russell Gage Sheldrick Redwine Jersey , DL Justin Zimmer.KANSAS CITY-PITTSBURGHChiefs: S Eric Berry, RB Darrel Williams, CB Charvarius Ward, LB Ben Niemann, OL Austin Reiter, OL Kahlil McKenzie, DL Justin Hamilton.Steelers:QB Mason Rudolph, WR Justin Hunter, CB Joe Haden, S Brian Allen, OG David DeCastro, T Zach Banner, DE Tyson Alualu.HOUSTON-TENNESSEETexans: DE/LB Jadeveon Clowney, WR Keke Coutee, WR Sammie Coates Jr., CB Kayvon Webster, T Roderick Johnson, DE Carlos Watkins, DE Christian Covington.Titans: WR Cameron Batson, S Kendrick Lewis, LB Aaron Wallace, T Dennis Kelly, T Taylor Lewan, T Jack Conklin, DE Matt Dickerson.LOS ANGELES CHARGERS-BUFFALOChargers: WR Travis Benjamin, DE Joey Bosa, LB Emmanuel Ellerbee, C Cole Toner, T Joe Barksdale, G Forrest Lamp, DT T.Y.
